Notes:

PARTICIPATION = VALUE

  1. Observe
  2. Ask
  3. Play
  4. Share on Stage

GAMES REFLECT BEHAVIOUR

  • why are you angry when you play games. If you understand why, then you can change it. Jangan jadi mangsa.

FILTER FOR LESSONS

  • take everything in stride.

RESULTS DON’T LIE

  • promotions

BREAKDOWNS CREATE BREAKTHROUGHS

CONFLICTS : HANDLE OR AVOID

PUSH YOUR LIMITS

  • makin tidak selesa, you akan belajar lebih banyak

COMMIT TO EXCELLENCE

  • it is about finding out how to be better than yesterday

HUNGRY FOR COACHING

ASK CLARIFYING QUESTIONS

  • “Is there anything else you want from me?” What else do I have to do…”.
  • Take theme to ask questions to avoid conflict later.

IKEA – I know Everything Already

  •  stops you from learning

RESPONSIBILITY

  • no blame
  • no justification
  • Tanya –> ask, and always choose

RESULTS OR REASONS?

  • Ask: what do we want to achieve: what do we want from it?
  • Do you put out stories/ reasons, or focus on the results?

CELEBRATE ALL SUCCESSES

  • “Well done, Whale done.”

ENVIRONMENT BEATS WILLPOWER

BUILD QUALITY ReaLATIONSHIPS

CONNECTION REQUIRES VULNERABILITY

COMMITMENT REQUIRES COURAGE

  • Commitment frees you rather than trap you.

RESOURCES VS RESOURCEFULNESS

  • People focused on Resources, find that they are always running out of $, time, manpower.
  • Penggunaan sumber: always focus on what they can do better.

IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING

  • Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance
  • 3 reasons people go first before plan: you want to do a good job, you don’t want to look bad, you don’t want to let others down.
  • 80% planning; 20% working

THE BUS PRINCIPLE

  • Right Direction
  • Right People
  • Right Seats
  • Wrong People OFF

ESCAPE THE CAMP

{ entire team must cross the “river” before the music stops }

Personal lessons:

  • There is always the extra 1% if you dig deep enough – PUSHING THE LIMIT
  • There is no secret to the things you want, just go for it! – 100% COMMITMENT
  • Participation = value
  • Biggest obstacles : being afraid of big emotions, and physical injury. Thus believing less of others – that they cannot do it (self projection).
  • Where did you find strength? Strength is found from the others around me. When you do not want to let them down that we have come so far, you find strength coming from somewhere. Strength is also found from GIVING SUPPORT TO others. Also found from seeing that there are others in a more uncomfortable position than you but are going at it even harder.

SINK OR SWIM

  • The hardest parts: physical requirements; no planning; wanting to please more than focusing on achieving objectives resulting in going around in circles. Harbouring anger at a man in the group – headache @ starjumps
  • Did you plan resources – no planning. There was indirect leadership but the leader was focused on individual tasks, poorly giving directions. No communication of team goals and directions.
  • Leadership – struggled with taking orders, disagreed with team direction but yet did not reach out to ask. Did not step up enough.

THE MOUNTAINEER

  • Every number is a negotiation point
  • have Continuous Incremental Improvement
  • When Emotions are HIGH, Intelligence is LOW
  • Win-win or win-lose situations

3 LEARNINGS FROM THE GAME

  1. Trusting the leader – step by step
  2. Focus on the task at hand
  3. Ethics – what is cheating, when is it justifiable?

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PPL FOR VARIOUS ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • it is challenging to choose. It is always biased.
  • some of us chose it by elimination, others chose by wanting to give others a chance.

AGREEABILITY AND GETTING AGREEMENT FROM OTHERS

  • I was agreeable easily. Because I wanted to keep good team spirit.
  • I spoke but voice was not heard. Feels unheard.

THE 5 MOST IMPORTANT LEARNINGS

  1. Stop blaming myself/ beating myself up for all – responsibility, no blame no justification.
  2. Connection = basic, it makes all effortless
  3. Tell people your feelings/ how you feel.
  4. Persistence and consistency are more important than genius
  5. I am a good listener, I am a caretaker. Physically limited. Speaking from the heart/ solar plexus more than the throat. Stop blaming ourselves.
  6. Resources vs RESOURCEFULNESS.
